Gideon Shoes was founded in 2005 as a footwear company with a difference. Sneakers were manufactured in Vietnam under ethically monitored and benchmarked conditions, and distributed across Australia, South East Asia and North America at selected retail outlets and online. A partnership was developed with The Street University, a charity operated by The Ted Noffs Foundation focused on employing and uplifting disadvantaged young Australians. The Street University purchased Gideon Shoes in 2011 to operate as a social venture with 94 employment and training roles for young Australians.
