The GCCIX cable system became operational in 2011, it is the first privately-owned terrestrial cable system that connects the Gulf countries together while also providing onward connectivity to the rest of the world. GCCIX as an investment vehicle developed its infrastructure through relationships with licensed operators in each of the countries it brings together on its network. Using an open platform and via transfer of ownership of assets in each country to various local licensed operators, GCCIX relies on its agreements with those operators to provide an independent connect to all type solutoin. Being a fully terrestrial-based cable system that works with all operators, GCCIX has the added advantage of being able to supply truly diverse, redundant capacity options on the infrastructure it has invested in. In comparison to all the other systems currently available in the Gulf region, GCCIX provides a truly unique and cross carrier platform. Utilising the latest Ciena DWDM fully-redundant technology over the entire 1000km length of the cable system, with full ROADM capability at each interconnect station, gives GCCIX a highly robust, flexible service offering for all our carrier customers. GCCIX is also pre-connected into all the major Europe/Middle East/Asia/North America trans-continental cable systems thereby allowing carrier customers the flexibility to onward connect to GCCIX at all major points worldwide.
