Folio InterTel Information

Folio InterTel, a division of the Folio Group, is an instant telephonic interpreting service that facilitates communication between medical professionals and non-English-speaking patients via live interpreters. Our experienced mother-tongue interpreters are available to interpret consultations, rehabilitation sessions and discussions with social workers. Launched in 2010, Folio InterTel partnered with the Western Cape Department of Health to provide professional medical interpreting in South Africa. InterTel has grown into a formidable operation, using 100 dedicated telephone lines and providing access to skilled interpreters in 38 languages. In addition to South Africa’s 11 official languages, InterTel boasts a comprehensive list of languages from Africa, Europe and Asia. It is important to note that InterTel is not an automated or computerised interpreting service – our remote interpreters access the system via their mobile devices. A more recent addition to InterTel is onsite interpretation for the Deaf using South African Sign Language (SASL).
