Focus13 Learning Center Information

The Focus13 Learning Center exists in order to provide high-quality, tailor-made, affordable, 1-on-1 academic intervention and test prep programs for students of all ages in order to help them succeed. Focus13 also offers advocacy services for parents who seek additional educational supports for their children in a public or private school setting. We utilize a 1-on-1 diagnostic/prescriptive approach based on best-practice educational principles & strategies. How Do We Help? We take the skills, training, techniques, strategies, and educational knowledge that we have acquired over 30 years, and work with children and adults with 1 issue in common:Some aspect of the learning process is difficult for them, be it reading, writing, spelling, math, study/organizational skills, or test-taking. Utilizing a 1-on-1 diagnostic/prescriptive approach based on current best-practice educational principles & strategies, we design and implement a multi-faceted program to meet each individual student's needs. Is 1:1 Tutoring Effective? Tutoring a student 1-on-1 allows the instructor to get to know a student on many levels. 1-on-1 tutoring gives the instructor the opportunity to understand the students' personality, learning styles, interests, academic strengths and weaknesses. Getting to know 'the whole child' enables the instructor to structure the tutoring plan to meet his or her individual needs. Research shows that this approach, leads to improved academic performance at all grade levels & across all subject areas.
