Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (ZANACO) was established in 1969 to serve the financial needs of the Zambian economy and it has since evolved into a leading Bank nationwide. In 2007, GRZ sold a 49% stake in the Bank to Rabo Development B.V a subsidiary of the Cooperative Central Raiffeisen-Boerenleen Bank (Rabobank) of Netherlands.
Subsequently, Rabo Development sold a 3.41% stake to Lizara Investments Limited, a nominee of the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU), following the Bank’s initial public offering in 2008.
The Bank remains majority-owned by Zambians and it thus considered “citizen owned”. The relationship Rabobank enables Zanaco to benefit from technical assistance and best practices in various areas of banking.
In our quest to meet customer expectations Zanaco’s strategic focus has been centered around improved service delivery. Guided by our Vision, Mission and Values, we are determined and committed to ensuring that we not only meet the expectations or our over 978,000 customers who cut across the Personal, Corporate, Government, SME and Agriculture sectors, but exceed them.
Innovation and sustainability for us means doing things better and smarter, driven by the needs of our customers; it means making efficient use of our resources and empowering the customer with financial services and products that help them attain their goals and aspirations.
