Co-Founder Sarah Lagrotteria is a classically trained chef and floral designer who loves working with flowers, teaching, travel, and writing. She and Tricia opened Flowers & Bread in 2017 with the goal of bringing unique learning opportunities and beautiful experiences to Columbus, OH. Sarah started her career working as the Executive Assistant to celebrity chef Mario Batali, assisting him with managing his four restaurants, two TV shows and contributing to his cookbooks. Sarah then moved to California, teaching writing classes on food and culinary culture at Stanford University while pursuing a PhD in the 19th Century Novel. In 2006, she co-founded Apples and Onions LA, a boutique private chef company, where she oversaw six chefs execute daily meal service and event planning for individual families. After moving to Columbus in 2013, Sarah became an instructor at The Seasoned Farmhouse, specializing in French technique. Sarah loves to write and develop recipes and served as the recipe editor of Edible Columbus from 2014-2017 and has contributed to several cookbooks. In 2019, Sarah was one of fifty women in the U.S. selected as a Tory Burch Foundation Fellow for Women Entrepreneurs. In 2020, Sarah used her TBF Foundation grant to formalize her floral education at The Tallulah Rose Floral School in Kendal, UK. Sarah holds a degree in English literature and Literary Translation from Cornell University, a Masters in English Literature from Stanford University, and a culinary degree from the French Culinary Institute. Sarah lives in Worthington with her husband and two young children. Before attending FCI, Tricia owned and built a successful business that was acquired by a national company in 2007. She has received numerous business awards and accolades.
