Koçtaş, yaşama değer katma serüvenine 1955 yılında Türkiye’nin en büyük sanayi ve hizmet topluluğu Koç Holding bünyesinde başladı. Yapı malzemesi toptancısı olarak attığı bu ilk adımın ardından 1996 yılında açtığı Bornova mağazası ile perakende sektörüne yöneldi. 30 yıla yaklaşan bu azimli yolculukta Koçtaş, perakende satış sahasını tüm Türkiye’ye yayarak 50’den fazla şehirdeki yapı marketleri ile sektörünün öncü şirketlerinden biri oldu. 2000 yılına gelindiğinde Koç Holding bünyesinde edindiği deneyimleri, dünyanın önde gelen ev geliştirme markalarından Kingfisher grubuna bağlı B&Q ile birleştirdi. Koçtaş, bu tecrübe ve bilgi birikimi ortaklığıyla birlikte bir yapı market zinciri haline geldi. 2006 yılında www.koctas.com.tr’yi devreye alarak artık herkes için erişilebilir olan Koçtaş, 2013 yılında ise Koçtaş Fix ile mahalleli mağaza formatını Türkiye ile tanıştırdı. Erişilebilirliği artıran farklı formatlardaki mağazaları sayesinde alışveriş deneyimine değer kattı.
