Dirimart Information

Dirimart was founded in 2002 by Hazer Özil, in İstanbul. Before long, it became one of the leading modern and contemporary art galleries in Turkey. Dirimart, mostly working with well-known Turkish artists, has also been a pioneer in the exhibition of internationally acclaimed foreign artists such as Thomas Bayrle, Hermann Nitsch, Shirin Neshat, Franz Ackermann, Sarah Morris and Ghada Amer, among many others, in Turkey. The gallery regularly participates in international art fairs, and continues to contribute to the world of art publications through its brands, Res Publications (est. 2007) and Dirimart Publications. Dirimart's first gallery space is located on the Abdi İpekçi street in Nişantaşı, one of İstanbul's centers for fashion and entertainment. Dirimart Dolapdere, Dirimart's second gallery space, was inaugurated on May26, 2016 with the group exhibition titled "Surface and Beyond" featuring works by many important artists such as Franz Ackermann, Haluk Akakçe, Sarah Morris, and Shirin Neshat. The gallery is located in the rapidly-emerging Dolapdere district, within Beyoğlu, the cultural center of İstanbul. This new, flexible and spacious gallery with a sculpture garden, has been designed by architect Markus Dochantschi.
