The Emerald Networks submarine cable system “Emerald Express” is a new-build network connecting North America to Europe with extraordinary new capacity that can handle current – and more importantly – future demand faster. It will disrupt the aging transatlantic fiber systems and bring a new super highway across the Atlantic at 100 Gbps. From New York – London, it will be the largest low-latency network across the Atlantic. Our unique route links Shirley, New York to the West Coast of Ireland with a branch connection to Grindavik, Iceland and a future branch connection to Southern Europe. The Emerald Express system focuses on wholesale low latency transatlantic services for carriers, ISPs and the financial services sector. In addition, the Emerald Express system connects data center industries in Iceland and Ireland. These countries are strategically located, have accessible governments, attractive tax laws and offer renewable green energy to drive data center power costs down dramatically. The Data Centers in Iceland and Ireland and the key financial markets of New York and London have never been better served. The Emerald Networks’ Emerald Express System features 4 Fiber Pairs and is designed at 100 waves x 100 Gbps each (40Tbit total). The mostly deep water route, up-armoring and deeper burial will ensure a very high level of reliability. The system is scheduled to be ready for service by mid/2014.
