Nesto Hypermarket is a well-known name across homes in the Gulf region. Founded by Mr. K P Basheer, Chairman of Western International Group in 2004 and led by Managing directors Mr. Siddique Pallolathil, Mr. Jamal Kp, and directors Mr. Nawas Kp, Mr. Noufal Kp and Mr. Athif. Nesto has been one of the fastest growing retail chains in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) locations. The Group’s tagline – ‘Nesto, all that you need’ – represents the company’s vision of being a one-stop shop for the people in the region. It caters to the multi-ethnic community residing in all its locations and therefore, stocks a huge amount of international products besides the locally manufactured items. With its headquarters in Ajman, the company has 100+ outlets in the GCC locations and employs over 10000 people of various nationalities.

In 1924, Arthur Rawdon Spinney, a British army officer stationed in Alexandria, Egypt, identified a need in the area for imported food products, planting the seed for what would later be one of the Middle East’s leading supermarket chains. Spinneys’ Dubai story started in 1961, with our first supermarket opening in Al Nasr Square in 1962. At that time, it was known locally as ‘The Frozen Chicken’ – the only retailer to sell frozen chickens from a chiller van. Such innovation has remained. Spinneys enjoys a well-deserved reputation for forward-thinking, keeping pace with changes in cooking trends and the emergence of new products worldwide. Today, Spinneys Dubai, owned by UAE national Mr Ali Albwardy, has built a strong name for supplying top quality produce and offering a high level of customer service.
