A MediaMarkt 1997. március 11-én nyitotta első áruházát Budapesten. A vásárlók addig sosem látott nagyságú áruválasztékkal találkoztak a háztartási és szórakoztató elektronika terén. 2016 őszén megállapodást kötött a MediaMarkt és a Tesco. Az elektronikai kiskereskedelmi lánc két új áruházat nyitott a Tesco győri, illetve a veszprémi hipermarket áruházaiban, majd hamarosan üzletek sora követte. Jelenleg összesen 40 MediaMarkt áruház, valamint az éjjel-nappal elérhető webáruház fogadja a vásárlókat országszerte.
