Elucit was founded in 1999 to answer this question. Our mission: to provide solutions and services bringing real-time, automated oversight to a vast number of cost-sensitive applications. By 2001 our beta Aurora system allowed non-technical managers to monitor their supermarket deli cases, perishable goods shipments, home health caregivers, and much more. Aurora fell victim to the collapse of the Internet Bubble, but the vision it sprang from continued to evolve. By 2004 it'd become apparent a platform like Aurora couldn't be as transformative as we believed. Like today's IoT efforts ours was a closed system. Applications could only be built by technicians with 'a priori' knowledge. Today, fifteen years later, we can do better. What we provide must be open; open to discovery, open to non-technical innovators with insights and expertise important to everyday users, and open enough to trust.
