The Electric Spirit Company is based in the heart of Leith, Edinburgh and is headed up by distiller James Porteous. Focused on creating exciting, experimental and unusual drinks in tiny batches, the business' signature spirit is Achroous Gin, a riff on the classic London Dry style, featuring fennel seed and Sichuan peppercorns. The gin was picked by Imbibe editor Chris Losh as a product of the year, and is available online and across the UK on- and off-trade. The company was recently recognised by the Scottish Gin Awards for Excellence in Branding (following on from previous winners, Harris Gin), as well as being described by Ian Buxton as "at the cutting edge of the vibrant Scottish craft distilling scene" in his book, 101 Gins to Try Before You Die. The Herald also named Electric as one of the coolest brands in Scotland, alongside 10 others that included Brewdog, Rockstar Games and Irn Bru.
