Effortel is a global Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) and Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), founded in 2005 in Brussels, Belgium. We built our company to support the global deployment of a private-label telecom service for Carrefour, the world’s second largest retailer. For Carrefour Mobile we currently run four Mobile Virtual Network Operations (MVNOs) in Belgium, Italy, Poland and Taiwan. Effortel is responsible for the total management—staffing, finance management, marketing strategy and execution, all administrative and commercial activities—of each of these operations. We therefore have enormous experience in both the technical/operational and commercial aspects of running an MVNO business, and also of working with a large retail company. With successful operations up and running for Carrefour Mobile in Belgium (2006) and Italy (2007), we also began to take our approach and technology to the open market as an MVNE (enabler) in 2008. To date, Effortel has launched 14 large autonomous MVNOs in six countries, run on six IN integrations with six Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in Belgium, Italy, Poland, France, Taiwan, Oman, Malta and Kenya. Effortel’s latest high-profile launch is Equitel in Kenya, a huge MVNO by the largest Kenyan bank - Equity, launched in September 2014 and rapidly approaching 1 million subscribers. Our technical platform has handled more than two million activations as of Q1 2015, and is capable of serving up to 20 million subscribers globally. Effortel also provides professional and consulting services. High profile consulting clients include Post of Israel (full MVNO business design), Blue Square, Israel (technology and marketing consulting), Samatel, Oman Sultanate (wholesale negotiations on behalf of Samatel), and Globe Telecom, Philippines (setup of MNO-managed MVNE operations). Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, Effortel employs more than 120 IT, telecom and retail professionals.
