Education Plus Nicaragua Information

The vision of Education Plus Nicaragua is to provide resources to impoverished children in Nicaragua so that they can lift themselves out of the cycle of poverty. Our organization started in November 2012 with about 25 children, a few chairs and a whiteboard, in the dirt and uncovered side yard of a small house in Pantanal, Nicaragua. Today, in our large community center, Casa de los Suenos (House of Dreams) - an oasis serving the impoverished local communities, with classrooms, a playground and sports area - we provide over 250 children with nutrition and health services, an education program and extracurricular activities. Children are given well balanced meals, vitamins and regular health check ups. We teach, track and test reading, writing, math, sciences, English skills, critical thinking, and provide further development through extracurricular activities that include field trips and clubs in sports, yoga, dance, books and music. In addition, and just as importantly, we teach values education and principles to live by. Our Mission is to provide the promising children of Nicaragua with food, education, and activities in order to eliminate malnutrition, instill core values, and give them the resources and opportunities they need to rise above their impoverished circumstances.
