Hi, my name is Philip Schønbaum. I’m the founder of Easypiecy. In 2003 I founded a Danish business (Teoriundervisning.dk) producing educational systems for driving schools. Early on I realised that many concepts were hard to communicate to the students. Driving instructors used whiteboards and toy cars with magnets to illustrate. Even so it was impossible to visualise moving vehicles, blind angles and many more subjects in the lessons. In 2004 I decided to produce a software that would illustrate these hard-to-grasp situations. The first software provided the same solution as the whiteboard – so nothing new and nothing extra helpful – just a digital replica of the whiteboard. In 2010 I made the first setup in 3D and published an app (Boarddriver) for IOS with scenes of traffic to show blind angles with no movement. More than 6000 driving instructors worldwide downloaded the Boarddriver app! I still didn’t think the solution was optimal so I decided to push the limits once more … The Easypiecy project was established in 2014 building an advanced technical platform able to produce ANY traffic situation you can imagine. Adding movement to vehicles and other elements expanded the usability of the system dramatically. My designer and I created a simple minimalistic layout for the scenes, removing all unnecessary details forcing the students to focus on the scene at hand. Scenes where based on the extensive Danish lesson plan and many Danish driving schools has contributed to the content itself. “It was important for us to create a system with a dedicated purpose of educating and at the same time not include confusing details or national markings – making it universal and international.” – Matt Wawrzyniak, Designer.
