For more than 55 years the Earl Warren Showgrounds has been an integral part of the culture in the Santa Barbara community. With its roots in the local equestrian heritage and long history of public involvement, the Earl Warren Showgrounds is truly a community treasure. Nestled in the picturesque city of Santa Barbara against the breathtaking backdrop of the Santa Ynez Mountains, the Earl Warren Showgrounds has hosted a variety of events from nationally renowned horseshows, to community service meetings, business meetings and speaking engagements for two former U.S. Presidents. The spacious equestrian and meeting hall facilities, convenient central location, easy freeway access and abundant parking combine to make the Showgrounds Santa Barbara's most popular public-owned meeting venue. The Earl Warren Showgrounds is managed by the 19th District Agricultural Association which is a statutorily created agency of the State of California, Department of Food and Agriculture, Division of Fairs and Expositions. The Earl Warren Showgrounds is totally a self funded agency that relies on revenues generated by facility rentals, usage fees and self promoted events to supply its operating budget. No tax dollars are taken from the State of California General Fund to support showgrounds operations. The mission of the Earl Warren Showgrounds management and staff is to develop and maintain quality equine and public event facilities, provide opportunities for positive guest experiences, deliver professional service, actively engage in youth oriented, educational programs that promote the local community and provide cultural enrichment. The Earl Warren Showgrounds supports local law enforcement agencies by supplying its facilities free of charge for training personnel and supporting law enforcement ceremonies. Many times the Showgrounds has been used in time of emergency as a command and staging center. They Showgrounds is an emergency staging and evacuation center for the American Red Cross, Department of Homeland Security, Equine Evacuation Team and Mission Canyon Homeowners Association.
