DocAquarium was established in 1995. Created by Kevin Phoenix, a hobbyist, and who has been working in aquariology for over 30 years. Based in Malibu, DocAquarium is currently designing and servicing aquariums, sculpting live reefs and ponds in Malibu, Santa Monica, Westlake Village, Camarillo, Simi Valley, Calabasas, Agoura Hills Pacific Palisades, Beverly Hills, Pasedena, Arcadia, Bradbury all of Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley, San Fernando Valley, and Ventura counties. Our clientele includes high profile celebrities, business professionals and firms, restaurants, and small scale hobbyists. From Monster showroom Aquariums to sophisticated living reef systems and simple freshwater fish tanks, we believe no job is too big or small! We now have a full online retail store! Our main goal is to provide customers with anything they could possibly need for their aquarium. We have a full functioning greenhouse in our Malibu location where it is facilitated to house fish and propagate coral. By doing so, not only do we reduce our use of electricity but are able to harvest natural sunlight to help corals grow fast, strong and with vibrant colors. DocAquarium provides corals to clients that are zero impact, and farm raised! This ensures the safety of natural living reefs out in the ocean. According to recent studies, the worlds largest reef (The Great Barrier Reef) has lost over half of its coral cover in the last 27 years. The loss is due to Crown of Thorns starfish (42%), storm damage (48%) , and bleaching (10%) which are both caused by ocean warming and is one of the critical impacts of global climate change. -Australian Institute of Marine Science.
