Ditting was founded in Zurich, Switzerland in 1928 as a manufacturer of automobile bodies and switched to manufacturing commercial coffee grinders in 1954. Ditting was the family name of the founder of our Company. For nearly half a century, Ditting has manufactured Swiss precision coffee grinders and has grown with the industry's changing needs while simultaneously setting standards in the coffee grinding industry. The heart of the Ditting grinder is the material and design of the grinding disc developed by Ditting engineers and individually milled to perfection at the Ditting factory. The grinders are driven by HIGH-TORQUE motors to withstand the heavy load encountered during fine grinding. The advantage of the grinding disc design is the fact that the coffee beans are cut down in size through multiple steps , resulting in uniform particle size according to the fineness selected. Most importantly, during the grinding, the coffee beans are not overheated; therefore, the roast condition of the beans is not affected. Albert Bezjian, the founder of Ditting USA, Inc. in California, started representing Ditting Maschinen of Switzerland back in 1968 while he was working as a mechanical engineer for an Aerospace manufacturing company. Our older customers remember the company he founded as Bezjian Imports. Over the last 45 years, Albert has been working closely with Ditting management in Switzerland to keep Ditting grinders in tune with the needs of coffee professionals. Ditting engineers and Albert's own engineering background have helped Ditting reach where it is today, setting grinding standards and leading the industry. In the early 1990's, to use Albert's technical background and to establish a stronger support base in North America, the Swiss company made Bezjian Imports their distribution and tech support center for the U.S., and Bezjian Imports became Ditting USA.
