Alleviating and preventing homelessness while affirming the dignity of each family is our mission statement. Decatur Cooperative Ministry (DCM) was founded in 1969 in response to community concerns for children who had no after-school care and supervision. Initially the collaborative effort was a partnership of City of Decatur Schools and 3 churches. DCM is now supported by over 35 congregations from 14 different faith practices. DCM has a volunteer Board of Directors, between 15 and 18 members and 70% of board members must be from member congregations. 9 staff members carry out the day - to - day duties required to meet the organization's mission.
