Maarten Ornstein is on a creative break from DASH! The band will not return in the former lineup, but may at some point continue in another form. Thanks for all the support! DASH! is an avantgarde funk ensemble from Amsterdam, combining virtuoso music and theatrics in one truly exciting package. Four brilliant vocalists are supported by a rhythmsection with deep grooves and basslines, and the swirling lines of the electric saxophone. The absence of chordal instruments makes for a unique, transparent sound. Bandleader Maarten Ornstein -who also composes all the music- is one of Holland’s finest composers and saxophone players, and an eclectic improviser with a very personal approach. In 2010, after having played many many concerts all over the world and releasing 3 CD's, it's time to evaluate and reorganize the ensemble. As of July 2011, it's clear the ensemble will make a comeback, but it remains to be seen in what form, and when. There are plans for a new release, but as yet nothing is final, mainly because of busy schedules.
