Building on its rich history, ID has recently made a transition to a new repertoire, with the related focus being on using elements from cultures around the world as the basis for contemporary dance productions. Choreographers are given the opportunity at ID to explore their artistic and creative perspective on traditions, on ritual and diversity, and give shape to this in a production. The first production within the new repertoire was Zonnekoningen (Sun Kings) choreographed by Jan Linkens and Mannen van de Tango (Men of the Tango) choreographed by Neel Verdoorn in the 2012/2013 season. The 2013/2014 season saw the production of SILK (Jan Linkens), youth production Si-Lin, De legende van de zijdeprinses (Si-Lin, The legend of the silk princess) choreographed by Jan Linkens and Fado-Ritual e Sombras choreographed by Vasco Wellenkamp. Si-Lin and SILK were continued in the 2014/2015 season and the dancers took their first steps on the choreographer's path in InsiDe-out. This was followed by the Crazy Blues production choreographed by Neel Verdoorn. Danzón and youth production Kymani, het verhaal van een drummer (Kymani, the story of a drummer - both choreographed by Jan Linkens) will be presented in theatres during the 2015/2016 season. Since the introduction of this new course, the company has succeeded in building its reputation in the international market. The company toured Indonesia in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and Mexico in 2013. Tours to the USA, Mexico, Cyprus and the Far East are scheduled from 2015. Managing Director Sophie Lambo was named Worldwide Branding Professional of the Year in the Performing Arts in 2014. ID is also performing well in its home country of the Netherlands: FADO recently won the 2014 Public's Choice Dance Award and in 2015 Crazy Blues won the 2015 Public's Choice Dance Award. Our dancer Michael Sastrowitomo won the Public Choice Dance Award for Best Dancer 2015. Sophie Lambo has been the company's Managing Director and Jan Linkens its Artistic Intendant since 2011.
