In 1934, Cephas B. Roger donated 25 acres of swampy land to the City of Danbury to create a community park. By 1941 Roger's Park opened and over the next 10 years, more than a dozen acres were added. One of the buildings, the War Memorial, was built as a tribute to serve living servicemen and honor fallen soldiers. The first ball field was constructed in the early 1960's. For the next 15 years, there was only one baseball diamond with the remaining acres around the park still swamp land. In the late 1970's three additional diamonds were added, including the Roger's Park ball field by using fill to firm up the soil. Field 2 was added in the early 1980's. The current "Blockhouse" was constructed in 1992. Today's Danbury Youth Baseball program is designed to provide the highest level of instruction coupled with a competitive baseball experience. Our program serves boys and girls from 5 to 18 years old. Emphasis is placed on learning fundamental skills, sportsmanship and respect for the rules of the game. Players participate in bi-weekly practices and 2 -3 games per week. The summer program, commonly known as "Travel Baseball" has produced a World Series win in 1999, sent 3 other teams to World Series play and won numerous district, state and regional trophies. In 2013 we fielded 13 travel teams with over 150 boys and girls playing summer ball. We also started a new Babe Ruth program called "Xtreme" baseball. This division is designed to provide travel level baseball in the spring and fall. Our vision is to continue to provide a best in class baseball experience for all our players and families.
