Custom Lighting Ltd. was founded in 1987 to cater to the growing demand for energy efficient lighting. In June of 1997, Custom Lighting Ltd. acquired portions of Pacific Photon Products Inc. to expand its product line. Since then the company has developed a core group of fixtures targeting market needs, focusing on energy efficiency and technology. Over the years Custom Lighting has provided products and services to a wide variety of users. For the hospitality industry Custom Lighting Ltd. provides energy efficient lighting fixtures for hotel chains to meet lighting requirements in guest rooms, banquet facilities and meeting rooms. Pot lights are used in lobbies, hallways and ballrooms to highlight architectural features of the buildings. In the food industry McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Ltd. approached Custom Lighting with their problem. They wanted to provide energy efficient lighting to the exteriors of their new restaurants and at the same time preserve the architectural image. Custom Lighting Ltd. developed a high intensity discharge fixture in the shape of a gooseneck. This fixture provides execllent lighting for awnings and signs, utilizing energy efficient technology at the same time. The University of Alberta has effectively retrofitted and upgraded light systems through out the campus by using Custom Lighting manufactured luminaires and retrofit kits and continues to do so on a regular basis. Custom Lighting works with electrical products distributors to provide solutions for contractors and engineers for project-specific lighting requirements.
