CrossWinds established this truth in its ministry DNA. The church believes that all people who desire to have a relationship with God must at some time set aside their old life of wrongdoing and receive the life-changing forgiveness found through the cross of Jesus Christ. That process is understood as a journey, a path that looks different for different people. The church desires to patiently walk with a person in the process of their spiritual journey as they put aside their selfish ambition, shoulder the cross of Christ daily, and follow him. At CrossWinds people are told to "come as you are," trusting the message of the cross and the wind of the Spirit will prevail! In February 1999, CrossWinds entered into eight weeks of "semi-private" worship. This gave the Launch Team an opportunity to invite others to "check out" CrossWinds. It also gave the young church an opportunity to work out the details of Sunday morning ministry. These Sunday morning experiences, along with outreach events, direct mail, newspaper advertising and personal invitations were used to inform people in the Stillwater Community about CrossWinds. The grand opening worship service was held on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1999 with 254 in attendance. CrossWinds has established the Bible as being authoritative in all matters of the Christian faith and application to daily life. Christ's teachings of mission and purpose of the church drives the purpose and values of CrossWinds, compelling the church to build relational bridges to people gently leading them to Jesus Christ. This is accomplished through the compassion and love of God, his grace and truth as revealed in the scriptures and modeled by the early church. All aspects of CrossWinds ministry are offered with sensitivity to the needs of people today. God's truth is applied to the contemporary needs of unchurched people without compromising the truth of scripture.
