Contribution has worked in pricing consulting since 2005, focused on evidence-based pricing for complex, feature-rich products, primarily in MedTech and SaaS. In our experience, companies underprice. We looked across 86 new product pricing studies we had done and found 85 were underpriced versus the expected launch price, by 10 to 300 percent. It’s the same with existing portfolios although a reference price has now been set, limiting the typical pricing upside of 7 to 20 percent. In any case the upside is significant and that’s why 90% of clients see ROI within 20 to 60 days post implementation.
