It is the town located in the westernmost part of Friuli Venezia Giulia, next to the Veneto border. Its name originates from the Latin Portus Naonis (Port on the Noncello) and is mentioned for the first time in 1204 in the Journey Diary of Wolger of Passau, the future Patriarch of Aquileia.
The town is characterized by a solid civic, entrepreneurial, naturalistic and tourist heritage. A key feature is the cultural activity promoted by numerous associations, which peaks in various national and international events, such as "Pordenonelegge", "Giornate del cinema muto", "Pordenone Blues festival".
