Community Computer Alliance (CCA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that empowers individuals, improves our communities, and aids in conserving our world – one computer at a time. CCA provides individual workforce development training for individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities. CCA’s job skills training program is directly fueled by our licensed and bonded electronic recycling services, providing the highest asset management standards to our generous corporate and individual donors. CCA regularly donates refurbished electronics to nonprofit organizations in our communities to, in turn, help fulfill their missions. We teach participants that are enrolled with our in-house program basic job safety skills, direct job skills and soft job skills. Participants start off by being taught basic job safety skills such as how to use work gloves and eye protection, how to properly lift heavy items, fire extinguisher usage, and much more. After they master these skills they are moved onto electronics dismantling where they are taught about tools (both electric and hand tools) and how to use them. The participants dismantle electronic devices and sort them into various bins. Once a participant masters one type of electronics processing they are moved onto the next type of electronics processing. For participants in the outreach portion of our job readiness program, the computers that are donated to other non-profit organizations for the individuals use contain digital literacy software, Microsoft Windows, word processing software and various other office applications so that the individual can familiarize themselves and learn the technology they will find within the work place.
