Communiskate Information

Its mission is to serve the areas of Emerald Park/White City and surrounding communities by providing a quality, clean, safe facility for the enjoyment of its members, community users and external clients. Communiskate Inc. is a year-round ice facility that hosts many camps, events and organizations throughout the year. We have a Pro Shop for all your supplies and skate sharpening needs, we also have a full-service concession, PowerPlay Pizza who hold the title for the World Famous burger! Our canteen also now has liquor sales which is new in 2019. Communiskate is managed by a Volunteer Board of Directors, the Board is responsible for Communiskate's operational, strategic and financial performance, as well as its conduct. The Communiskate Board exercise their responsibilities by clearly setting out the policy guidelines within which they expect the management to operate. Board Level Directors look to the Executive Director for strategic guidance in their areas. The Executive Director acts as a liaison between the board of directors and the rest of the organization. The ED meets with the board regularly to keep them informed on operational issues and work with them to come up with strategic solutions to challenges. The Executive Director oversees the heads of each department, including marketing, scheduling, fundraising, program development, HR management and accounting, in addition to executive-level duties. The ED also manages all day to day responsibilities of the organization, including helping the Facility Manager with staff management. The Board and the Executive Director work closely with our Facility Manager, who oversees the daily operations of the physical building, is responsible for budgets, subcontractors, and overseeing construction projects.
