We're CommonAct - an independent press dedicated to publishing fine books on community organization, anti-oppression and social work practice. Our books are intended for activists, students, and community leaders alike. CommonAct is proud to publish the following: - Pragmatics of Community Organization 4th ed. Dumbrill) Here's how we started, as told by owner Mike Balkwill: "Shortly after I graduated, Bill Lee (my professor who introduced me to community organizing) said “I've written a book. I’d like you to read it and tell me if you think I should try and get it published." That book was Pragmatics of Community Organization - and as soon as I read it, I knew I wanted to be the one to publish it. So here we are - 35 years and 4 editions later."
