Clean Foods was founded in 1980 as America's first organic coffee company under the trade name Cafe Altura. This pre-dates the USDA organic certification by 10 years. Around 1990 the business relocated from it's home in Ojai, CA and set up a roasting operation in Santa Paula, CA. Clean Foods again relocated to a new modern facility in Ventura, CA in 2016. Today Clean Foods employs 9 full time employees and distributes the Cafe Altura brand nationally. Cafe Altura is still one of the largest organic only coffee brands in the country, and has continued to pioneer the industry. In 2017 Clean Foods purchased Centri Coffee and now incorporates both brands in one manufacturing facility, utilizing specialty grade and large scale manufacturing processes in it's operations.
