Children's Services Support Unit (CSSU) Inc. Information

One Tree Community Services Inc. was established in 1973 as a not-for-profit organisation focused on providing childcare services. Although One Tree has services in Perth, many of our services are based in rural and remote communities. In 2010, One Tree identified that increasingly, vulnerable children were being placed in our services that were in government care due to abuse and neglect. This highlighted the lack of services for children and families in the communities we serve. The decision was made that One Tree would extend our scope to focus on community services for individuals, families, children and vulnerable communities suffering poverty, ill health, homelessness, abuse, isolation or a lack of services. We would, in particular, focus on at risk and marginalised people to include Aboriginal, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. As we established community services in vulnerable communities, the need to provide training and employment opportunities to alleviate poverty and to provide real opportunities for families brought about One Tree's decision to become a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and offer accredited training and employment with a focus on skilling disadvantaged people. One Tree's RTO also provides our organisation with the opportunity to provide training to all our staff and improve the quality of services to the communities we serve.
