Cheer Gym Texas Thunder Information

CHEERGYM offers over 25 weekly cheerleading and gymnastics classes. Each class is based upon a child's age and ability level. CHEERGYM is also the home of the TEXAS THUNDER All-Stars. TEXAS THUNDER was the very first All-Star cheerleading program in the Richmond/Rosenberg area starting in 1996 with their first team, Texas Twisters, starting practically by accident. There where several girls in the program who tried out, but did not make their school cheerleading squad. Upon hearing this, Coach Stephanie , as she is known, thought back to her old cheerleading days and decided she would create a competitive cheer team for these girls. Although Stephanie had been a competitive gymnast and cheerleader for many years, she never thought about getting back into the competitive aspect of the sport until this happened. What began as just a whim has now become one of the largest and most successful cheerleading programs in the state. Over the last nine years, TEXAS THUNDER earned over 60 team and individual national titles. TEXAS THUNDER now holds over 100 National titles. CHEERGYM has tried to become a place where everyone is welcome. Although this is a business, Stephanie tries her best to make sure every child is given the opportunity to participate in this new and exciting sport. With the help of the CHEERGYM Booster Club, which is run entirely by the parents of the cheerleaders, many boys are girls are now able to participate in a sport that most didn't even know existed 5 years ago. Today, CHEERGYM has 8 competitive cheer teams, one "Parent Challenge" team consisting of the parents of the cheerleaders, and, in 2004, the Starz of Thunder Dance team was started under the tutelage of former Houston Rockets Power Dancer, Juanita Vazquez . Other cheer coaches at CHEERGYM are: Brianne Yeoman, Brandon Jackson, and Robyn Killion. The gymnastics classes are taught by Jeremy Alspaugh. CHEERGYM is very proud of, what it considers, the best coaching staff in the Houston area. The coaching staff at CHEERGYM prides itself in our genuine love for kids and the sport of cheerleading. With over 50 years of combined experience in coaching competitive cheerleading and gymnastics, our coaches know what it takes to be the best and how to have fun doing it! We take pride in coaching each and every child to their full potential - both physically and mentally. We have learned that hard work and determination, combined with self-confidence and the ability to have fun, is what it takes to become a champion. Our goal is to help EACH and EVERY child that goes through our program HAVE FUN being the very best that they can be!
