Anna University was established on 4th September, 1978 as a unitary type of University. This University was named after Late Dr. C. N. Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Applied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained therefrom, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities. The University was formed by bringing together and integrating four well known technical institutions in the city of Madras (now Chennai) namely, College of Engineering (CEG) (Established in 1794) Alagappa College of Technology (ACT) (Established in 1944) Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) (Established in 1949) School of Architecture & Planning (SAP) (Established in 1957)

Kumaraguru Centre of Industrial Research and Innovation (KC.IRI), the research body of Kumaraguru Institutions was established in the year 2017 as a remembrance of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. KC.IRI is a focused Research & Innovation Ecosystem at KCT in symbiotic collaboration with industries for the promotion of industry-specific applied research, innovative product development, advanced learning and skill development programs. It bridges across industry and the student, to provide support to enter industries and to improve projects which are evaluated by the industry experts We strive to create a pool of skilled students in Design and Manufacturing through industry specific certification programs in skill development under Skill-India / Make-in-India schemes by establishing Manufacturing Hubs by leading industries. Appreciating the importance of the industry-academia partnership in transforming research and education to greater heights, KC.IRI has partnered with industries and universities which helps in building an advanced technological research platform and empowers innovation. Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), situated in Coimbatore and established in 1994 under the auspices of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, stands as one of the trust's 17 esteemed institutions. Functioning autonomously, SREC offers a wide array of undergraduate programs covering fields like Aeronautical, Biomedical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Information Technology, Computer Science and Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, along with a five-year integrated M.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering.
