CBT Training Information

Our program focuses on CBT because at the present time it is the best empirically validated therapy across a range of psychological problems. CBT has undergone many changes since it was first developed. There are a number of different approaches to CBT. We subscribe to the approach of Aaron T. Beck, which has been the foundation for the vast majority of empirically validated CBT treatment studies. We believe CBT to be an empathy-enhancing therapy, which mixes in a theoretically coherent way: A sound collaborative relationship A structured approach to problem formulation A rich variety of useful techniques We make a distinction between CBT as it should be practised (an empathy-enhancing therapy), and some of the myths that people hold about CBT (e.g. that it's a mechanistic techno-fix). We also aim to make a real difference to your CBT practice by using training strategies that empirical research and our experience suggest work best.
