I am Carlos Yasik, a filmmaker based in LA that can conceptualize, create, produce, and edit content. After several years of doing music videos and commercials, I discovered my passion for stories. I was obsessed with cinematography, lighting and visual effects, but I realized that all that is meaningless if you don’t have a good story. Stories are small survival recipes for life. They are like little virtual reality machines that help us experience life from other perspectives. Producing commercials and creating compelling stories gave me an opportunity to share with clients and other filmmakers the importance of creating ideas that are not only well produced, but are imprinted with the richness of humanity. That’s how an emotional connection is created, when what you strive for is in tune with your audience’s core values. This what I always ask myself every single time I write a script. As my experience in advertising collided with my passion for story, I realized that the cinema experience has evolved. The big screen is now in your hands, and that’s the future --sorry-- the present of filmmaking. In order to sell, you need to know how to tell good stories, in order to tell good stories you need to know how to sell. This is what I learned as a creative director. I have the experience from both sides, the marketing point of view and the filmmaker’s vision. My experience, my hunger for learning, my passion for story, and my willingness to share it with other creators are what drive me. If you have a story to tell, we have so much to talk about.
