Calorie Care Information

Calorie Care is a young, entrepreneurial venture started by a fitness enthusiast and a team of chefs and dieticians. One of our founders, Cyrus Driver, was working long hours in a private equity firm in 2004, and finding it increasingly difficult to keep in shape. No matter how long he exercised in the gym, his waistline stubbornly refused to budge! Cyrus soon realized his diet was undoing all his hard work - and found a complete lack of healthy eating options for working executives wanting to take care of their diets. Due to the utter lack of convenient healthy eating options, executives all around him were making unhealthy meal choices - unhygienic 'dabbas', calorie laden pizzas & burgers, or oily meals from local restaurants and canteens. He wished he had easy access to meals that were healthy, calorie-controlled, and varied. Thus was born the idea for Calorie Care. Cyrus's idea was given shape by our team of professional chefs and qualified dieticians, led by the renowned dietician Lisa John. The team spent a year in R&D developing and testing a large library of calorie-counted recipes. We also spent that year creating a proprietary software system that allows us to create and track meal plans for each individual customer. Calorie care was finally launched on September 7th, 2005. We've grown steadily through word-of-mouth and we are now proud to have a customer base of over 3,000 people. In 2007, we raised a round of venture capital from a US investor, Helix Investments. That helped us invest in better systems and experiment further with our recipes with the help of experts like renowned Chef Sudhir Pai. Today, Calorie Care has evolved into a genuinely professional company with all key roles handled by a team of managers. All strategic decisions are taken by the board of directors, half of whom are independent directors. We are currently present only in Mumbai, but are planning to launch in other cities next year.
