Breakwater School Competitors

The Beacon School offers an inquiry-based college-preparatory program with technology and arts infused throughout the curriculum. In addition to taking the New York State English Language Arts Regents, students demonstrate their mastery of material each year by presenting independent projects to panels of teachers. All Beacon students perform one semester of community service.

The American Montessori Society (AMS) is the foremost advocate for quality Montessori education. AMS sets the high professional standards that inform Montessori education as practiced in AMS-accredited schools and taught in AMS-affiliated teacher education programs. AMS provides an information center for its members, the media, and the public; a voice in the public policy arena; and a mobilizing force for the global Montessori community, through support services, research, and professional development events. Cascades Academy was founded in 2003 with a deep commitment to experiential learning, academic excellence, and community engagement. The school is a leader in innovative, 21st century education and will be the first school in Oregon to implement the Mastery Transcript(sending class of 2027). Now in its 23rd year, the school has grown to 240 students PreK-12 and has expanded its campus footprint to include 45 beautiful acres on the scenic Deschutes River. The school is actively considering its next phase of campus master planning to accommodate future enrollment growth and strategic initiatives.
