The ACE Mentor program is an organization widely recognized by universities throughout the US as a stand-out extracurricular program that improves the chances of acceptance into programs offering degrees in the ACE fields.
ACE of Greater Boston, an affiliate since 2007, offers an after-school program, that runs from October to March, providing students in grades 9-12 with an introduction to the design, engineering and construction disciplines. Students work with mentors throughout the program to development a hypothetical, but realistic, building project. Field trips to construction sites, professional offices, and local colleges are also incorporated into the program. ACE Mentors are full-time architects, engineers, and project managers, as well as dedicated volunteers, excited to inspire the design and construction leaders of the future.
All ACE participants take away a valuable and exciting experience that develops ability for creative and logical thinking. The benefits include:
1. Scholarship opportunities
2. Professional industry contacts and references
3. High school and college internship opportunities
4. Advance preparation for college
development of technical skill sets in leading design and construction software programs
Today's education system is focused primarily on developing hard skills such as mathematics & linguistics (left side thinking). Whereas, there is little emphasis being placed on out of the box, critical, and creative thinking (right side of the brain). 2 Sides Equal believes that both types of thinking are equally important. We are dedicated to encouraging, promoting, and cultivating both logic and creativity to make an equally wholesome brain; one might say a 2 sides equal brain. This is our passion because in today's ever-changing, fast-paced global economy, both sides must be equally nourished to prepare students for what lies ahead in college, careers and all aspects of life.
We believe that if we introduce and promote activities that require a creative problem solving approach that goes outside your average school curriculum, we can better prepare today's youth for the real world. They will be encouraged to use both strategic and innovative thinking together to creatively solve not just today's problems, but tomorrow's as innovative thinkers and leaders.
