Blissful Bedrooms Information

Blissful Bedrooms is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, composed entirely volunteers. We are dedicated to empowering the lives of young individuals with disabilities, both inside and outside of their bedrooms. Our mission is to transform the personal spaces of young individuals who have limited resources, and various physical disabilities that make them wheelchair dependent & highly reliant on others for activities of daily living. Because of their lack of mobility/independence & decreased opportunities in society, these young individuals with severe physical challenges spend the majority of their time in their bedrooms. Our goal for each bedroom makeover is to create a personal sanctuary conceived exclusively for the individual. This is achieved by a collaboration of talented volunteers, who creatively design and construct a unique environment that is born out of the recipient’s passions and favorite colors. We build custom-made furniture and create original artwork for each room. The makeover is done over a weekend! We do not simply provide the special young individual with a bedroom makeover and leave his/her life forever. Instead, the bedroom makeover represents an entry point into a whole new world of socialization for the recipient and his/her family. We welcome each bedroom recipient into our expanding family, which we nurture by organizing regular social events, excursions and travel experiences, so that they can gather with their peers and enjoy time outside of their bedroom. Although it is obvious that Blissful Bedrooms is addressing a great need of young individuals with disabilities, it is also serving an even greater need for able-bodied individuals. Many people of all ages and backgrounds are yearning for a way to give back and engage in meaningful experiences that help others in need.
