Magazine writer and editor Matt Hendrickson first became obsessed with magazines by devouring issues of Creem and Rolling Stone at the local library in Hastings, Minnesota. In 1995, his boyhood dream of working within this industry became reality when he joined Rolling Stone, spending the next five years as a staff writer and editor. While at RS, he penned cover stories on Green Day, Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine, among others, as well as covering the 1999 Columbine High School shootings. Leaving RS in 2000, Matt helped launch Maximum Golf, a News Corporation publication where he edited all of the lifestyle content. After a stint as the music editor at Teen People, Matt formed his own media consulting company, Big Swede Media, in 2003. The publishing industry has undergone radical changes since the launch of Big Swede Media. While Matt continues to write for national publications such as Details and the Southern lifestyle publication Garden & Gun, he has enthusiastically embraced the digital age, helping develop the new music website, smokemusic.tv. For his corporate clients – which include MTV, Time Inc., Hearst and Sports Development Corporation – Matt is uniquely qualified to help companies convey their message in the most authentic way possible.
