Berkeleyside is an independent nonprofit digital news site serving Berkeley, California. It is part of Cityside which also also powers The Oaklandside and East Bay Nosh. Berkeleyside was founded in October 2009 by journalists Frances Dinkelspiel, Tracey Taylor and Lance Knobel. In 2029, in collaboration with new partners and leaders, they launched the Cityside Journalism Initiative to bring more civic-minded local journalism to the Bay Area. Oaklandside, serving Oakland, CA, was launched in 2020, and Richmondside, serving Richmond, CA, waslaunched in June 2024. Together, those news sites reach more than 500,000 people in the East Bay every month. Berkeleyside's Editor-in-Chief since April 2025 has been Zac Farber.
