Benk&Bo means ´workbench´ & ´a place to live´ in Norwegian and embodies the culture of the small island of Andøya in the Arctic of Norway where the founder, Mariell Lind Hansen, grew up. The North Star is to create a space and community with focus on production rather than consumption, and build an understanding around how everyday objects and consumables are being produced. Benk&Bo at Gravel Lane E1 currently offers a free workspace, an outpost of The Barbican Design Library, live jazz, events and wall-space showcasing emerging artists.
