Most people experience healthcare only when something has already gone wrong. Autonomy works earlier than that. Autonomy is a clinical health service led by Dr Ula Heywood, our lead doctor. We measure the biological markers that show how your body is actually performing, interpret what they mean for you specifically — your pattern, your trajectory, not a population average - and work with you to change what is changeable, before drift becomes diagnosis. Investigation precedes recommendation. That is our clinical promise: we don't recommend until we understand. We go beyond the standard panel to find what it doesn't test, then tell you what we find and what it means. More than 650 New Zealanders have completed an Autonomy clinical programme. Clinicians have a word for this: healthspan — the years you live in good health, not simply the number of years you live. Extending it is the whole point of what we do. We want to change when New Zealanders get to understand their own biology. The standard system is designed to respond when something is already wrong, and it does that well. We think people also deserve a clearer picture sooner: the measurements that show where their health is heading, interpreted by a doctor, while there is still room to change the trajectory. More healthspan, less drift, more decisions made with information rather than after the fact.
