The University of Texas at Austin's Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center inspires the conservation of native plants through its gardens and education, research and outreach programs. Established in 1982, the center is nationally-renowned for its programs in plant conservation, ecosystem design, native plants, sustainable landscapes and education. It was named the state botanic garden and arboretum of Texas in 2017. People visiting the center's home in Austin, Texas can explore sustainable landscapes and native plants in cultivated gardens, the 16-acre Molly Steves Zachry Texas Arboretum, the Luci and Ian Family Garden and acres of natural landscapes.

Austin Creative Reuse opened Austin’s first creative reuse center in September 2015. In our center, we collect, process and re-sell gently used creative materials donated from individuals and businesses. To date, ACR has diverted more than 3 million pounds of usable creative materials from the landfill and hosted hundreds of workshops and community events to promote creative reuse.
