We champion, develop and invest in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people's lives. We support activities across the arts, museums and libraries – from theatre to digital art, reading to dance, music to literature, and crafts to collections. By 2030 we want England to be a country in which the creativity of each of us is valued and given the chance to flourish and where everyone of us has access to a remarkable range of high quality cultural experiences. Between 2018 and 2022, we will invest £1.45 billion of public money from government and an estimated £860 million from the National Lottery to help deliver this vision.

Art Exchange provides exciting opportunities for young people and teachers to engage with art and the ground breaking research of academics here at the University of Essex. Each term we focus on different areas of study that can be easily understood and enjoyed by children of all ages. Our expert arts educations officers create insightful workshops that can be tailored to each school's needs and priorities, while delivering the National Curriculum. We promise they will be great fun too! Coming onto the University of Essex's Colchester campus is a fantastic opportunity to give young people a taste of student life and raise aspirations. We are always happy to include a campus tour, treasure hunt or quiz - all specially designed with young visitors in mind!

Arts Connect works in partnership so that all children and young people can benefit from engagement in high quality arts, cultural and creative activities and experiences. We believe that engagement with the arts and culture in all its forms, the opportunity to take part, to create and produce culture supports young people to build the social and cultural capital that enables them to thrive. It builds creative skills that are valued by employers and can provide pathways into careers in the creative industries. We know that opportunities for young people are not equal and we aim to reduce these barriers through our programmes.
