ARTC plays a critical role in Australia’s national freight and passenger rail system, stewarding more than 9,600km of rail infrastructure that connects regions, cities, ports and industries across five states and the lands of more than 50 First Nations. Every day, we enable the safe, reliable and efficient movement of freight and passenger services, supporting national supply chains, economic productivity and community connectivity. As Australia’s freight task continues to grow, rail has an increasingly important role to play in delivering efficient end‑to‑end supply chains, reducing road congestion and lowering transport emissions. Through our operations, maintenance, investment and industry partnerships, we work to improve the safety, capacity, resilience and competitiveness of the national rail network.
