Mobile devices have transformed our lives, and now they have begun transforming how we manage our health by capturing data about our bodies and our behavior. These devices will instantly transmit this data to the cloud, where it will be analyzed for insights into our health, both as individuals and as a population. These insights will be fed back to our mobile devices in real time to help us make healthy choices and develop healthy habits. Our goal at Applivate is to power this transformation by building the products and services that implement zero-effort, mobile-based health data logging and cloud-based analytics. Our first product—ShugaTrak—makes these capabilities available to the tens of millions of people in the US who have diabetes. ShugaTrak automatically retrieves blood glucose measurements from glucose meters the moment they are taken and immediately sends them to the cloud. Once in the cloud, ShugaTrak stores the data and then instantly transmits it to interested parties. The ShugaTrak database of up-to-the-minute, accurate diabetes data will serve as the raw material for algorithms will extract insights on diet, exercise, and insulin delivery and transmit them to patients, loved ones, and caregivers.
