Applied Ethics, Inc. Information

Applied Ethics, Inc. (AE) was established in July 2007 as a nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts, USA, with the mission of seeking ethical solutions to significant social issues through projects, education, counseling, and advocacy. Our primary focus has been the ethics of war and peace, which led to the creation of the people-to-people peacebuilding program, Pax Populi (see www.paxpopuli.org). Since 2010, we have been engaged in peace-through education in Afghanistan. After the Taliban's return to power in 2021 and barred women & girls from education beyond 6th grade, we transformed Pax Populi Academy into an underground full-time complete curriculum school for girls and young women in Afghanistan. We currently have over 110 students in grades 7 to 12. In the spring of 2026, three of our students were admitted to the University of British Columbia, Canada's third-highest-ranked university. Since no funding was offered, we began fundraising to send these three students and one other to attend university. As of June 2026, this fundraising effort continues. Besides the work of Pax Populi Academy, AE has considerable experience in business ethics and medical ethics. Applied Ethics is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity; all donations to AE are deductible for US taxpayers.
