Anderson Automotive Enterprises provides truly personal service. Purposely, I have avoided the temptation to add employees in response to business pressures. My core competencies include engine building and tuning, driveline, suspension, brakes, body restoration, painting, and some interior work. To supplement my own skills, I call upon specialty contractors who have proven their capability to do quality work over the years. For me, the journey is as important as the destination. I obtain immense personal satisfaction in producing a properly performing automobile of exquisite appearance piece-by-piece. Plus, quality and personal service is more easily assured when a single person is accountable. Family lore says that my favorite toy as a toddler was my father's shiny, chrome-plated quarter-inch socket set in its fitted case. From that beginning, cars have been a constant in an otherwise highly varied life. My father was a skilled mechanic, among many other talents. His mechanical interests rubbed off on me and in his shop I learned much as his helper. Part-time work for local independent garages during my high school and college years paid for my hobby - customizing and hot rodding 50s and 60s vintage cars - and increased my automotive skills. The cars I worked on then are today's collector cars. Anderson Automotive Enterprises began in 1969 as a part-time business in upstate New York. Initial activities focused on sports and formula car racing and repair and restoration of foreign cars. At that time there were few independent shops to service the needs of the sports car enthusiast. A wide variety of marques were serviced including Alfa, Datsun, Fiat, Jaguar, Lancia, MG, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, and Triumph. This work gradually evolved into car restoration beginning in the 1980s as more shops began servicing the increasing numbers of imported cars.
